Harvard University scientists have developed an actual exosuit — a wearable machine that can improve strength and stamina.

A powered exoskeleton (also known as power armor, powered armor, powered suit, exoframe, hardsuit or exosuit)^[1] is a wearable mobile machine that is powered by a system of electric motors, pneumatics, levers, hydraulics, or a combination of technologies that allow for limb movement with increased strength and endurance.^[2]

動力服（英語：Powered suit），或稱動力裝甲（Powered armor）、動力外骨骼（Powered exoskeleton），是一種由外骨骼模樣的框架組成，且可讓人穿上的機器，這個裝備可以提供額外能量來供四肢運動。

動力裝甲與動力外骨骼相比更傾向於軍用，除了能夠增強人體能力的這一基本功能外，還要具有良好的防護性、對複雜環境的適應性以及輔助火力、通信、偵查支持等軍用功能。

動力服是設計成用來保護穿戴者的，例如為了保護士兵或建築工而設計，或設計用來進行救援身處險境的人員上。廣泛一些的用途則是用來做為義肢與幫助老弱者行動。其它的用途則是用來進行救援行動，就像在一棟要倒塌的建築物裡，這個裝置可以提供給工人很大的力量來舉起重物，同時保護它不被落下的碎石砸傷。在日本，有銀行為需常搬運沉重鈔票及硬幣的員工配備外骨骼，以降低身體負擔^[1]。

第一套外骨骼動力服在1960年代由通用電氣公司與美國軍隊開發，當時命名為Hardiman，穿著這套裝備時舉起150公斤的物體就像舉起6公斤的物體一樣輕鬆。不過這套服裝是不實用的，因為它本身重達680公斤。
