‘Megxit’

We chart the rise of “newstalgia” in marketing

Newstalgia is a 2013 studio album by American hip hop artist Time. It was released on October 29, 2013, and features contributions from Budo, Jake One, Factor, Xiu Xiu, and Ceschi, among others.
A bottle of Hendrick’s gin looks like it has been plucked from a Victorian apocathery, but the brand was established in 1999. We chart the rise of “newstalgia” in marketing

New Word Suggestion
the use of nostalgia in the marketing of a new product
Additional Information
But what if your brand has no actual history? That’s when you reach for “newstalgia”: using fragments of historical flotsam to spark warm feelings for a novel product. There are two reasons for this backwards drift. The first, as a recent article in the International Journal of Research in Marketing suggests, is a search for “enchantment” by consumers looking to bring some “wonder, romance and magic” to their lives. Speedo’s LZR Racer, Nike Vaporflys 'supershoe', carry an asterisk

The sneakers have helped elite runners shatter records since their release.

The effect of Nike Vaporflys is unprecedented in running. They bring to mind Speedo’s LZR full-body swimming suits

The LZR Racer (pronounced as 'laser') is a line of competition swimsuits manufactured by Speedo using a high-technology swimwear fabric composed of woven elastane-nylon and polyurethane. The LZR Pro and LZR Elite were launched on 13 February 2008; the higher-priced LZR Elite was replaced by the LZR Elite 2 in early 2014.[1] The LZR X, the most recent addition to Speedo's competition suit lineup, was launched in early 2015. The technology is patented in Italy, and protected worldwide.[2]
